Re: Slower after Alltrax SPM Install??
First, look at the model number on your current motor...Ask a local ezgo dealer about a "take-out" stock high speed motor "AU-2500 HI SPD". Send your motor out to PlumQuick for speed upgrade. Or buy a new high speed motor. High speed gears are also available, but not well suited for heavy loads (4-pass kits), or hilly terrain.

Re: Slower after Alltrax SPM Install??
Only three ways to increase the speed on a series drive. (Without decreasing the cart weight.)
1. Change the final drive ratio. (Tire height and/or differential gears) 2. Install a motor that is wound to spin faster. (High-Speed motor) 3. Up the pack voltage. The first one is a direct trade off between top speed and low end torque. If you alter the final drive ratio to get 10% more top peed, you loose about 10% of the torque where rubber meets road. The second one isn't always a direct trade off between speed and torque because some aftermarket motors produce about the same low end torque as a standard speed stock motor, yet will spin faster with the same voltage applied. Going to a higher pack voltage will up torque throughout the RPM spectrum of the motor as well as increasing the top speed. -------------- Before replacing the motor, or doing anything else, I'd try to find out why you're not getting the same speed with the SPM as you were with the stock controller. If you can, save the monitor log on a laptop while driving, zip the .CSV file it makes and post it here so I can take a look at it. Also, post screenprints of your controller settings. ----------- As for a motor, I'm partial to D&D motors, but Plum Quick does some magic when they rewind your stock motor. scottyb is a dealer for D&D |

Re: Slower after Alltrax SPM Install??
Oh yeah, and higher voltage, your controller is ready for it & your stock motor will be fine too. New batteries & new charger tho.

Re: Slower after Alltrax SPM Install??
Sounds like these guys already got you covered. Everything they have posted is true but I would not expect a decrease in performance when increasing the controller size. Can you verify the curtis controller model # and amperage capacity
