Testing an A/C motor
Does anybody have information on testing procedures for testing the new A/C motors in the late model EZGO?

Re: Testing an A/C motor
The AC motor will not run without the controller.

Re: Testing an A/C motor
But if you can provide the right A/C voltage and hertz you should be able to bench test it? I believe it's 30v at 300 hertz...

Like the DC cart motors, there is no front bearing, so the armature is only supported at one end and it has to be mounted to the differential to test it or physical damage to the armature will occur. 2. I don't know the voltage or frequency, but it is a 3-phase motor, so finding an appropriate power supply, other than a controller, will be difficult. |

Hi. RXV tech here.
RXV ac motors do not seem to fail. I have seen bad encoders and bearings, Never bad motor. RXV controller cuts power if motor gets too hot Saving motors most of the time. |

Re: Testing an A/C motor
This does not apply to "testing the AC motor" itself. But the temp sensor will cause a fine motor to be worthless on a rxv. Temp sensor Must work on a rxv (or 1mph top speed), temp sensor has been found bad by me before, temp sensor cannot be replaced on its own (its wound into the motor windings & not accessable).

Re: Testing an A/C motor
CG is correct
Did not think about temp sensor. Are you having trouble with RXV? What is problem? |

Re: Testing an A/C motor
An AC motor is really a Brushless DC motor. It needs a controller that can drive the three windings correctly to run. You can not bench test it without a controller. It's not a constant frequency drive. The frequency varies to control the motor RPM. The only test you can do is to ohm out the windings or spin it and look at the EMF from each of the three windings.
