New build eh. Before you worry about seat covers let's get this thing moving.
1) most likely batteries need switched.
2) sure go ahead and replace all cables. 4 ga fits through the obc fine.
2a) get power to the motor and make sure this thing moves.

Without doing the above you will have yard art!
Not saying don't think ahead about the aesthetics but get it rolling, plus it gives you time to think about how you want it to look.

I have been skimming any info I can find on the cable upgrade. did u use all 1 color or red and black? I found cable in 20 or 30 ft length 10 or 15 each red and black . how many ends will I need? I see some selling cable sets of 5 - 14 pcs. so a lil confusing until I start taking mine apart. I want to have everything here if possible when I start on it so hopefully a good weekend of working on the new toy and I will be cruising.
thanx again for the info

Get all one color unless you just like the aesthetics. I'd count what's current on their. Look at the diagram the dark lines I believe are what you'll want to be the larger cables

what you guys think about this cable?
and yes, not buying any cosmetic stuff until it moves, along with any upgrades other than the cables. I saw the upgrade magnet for the electric motor, but I figure if this 1 is bad I will just upgrade motors. sooner or later I want a jeep body, I have a 4x4 shop which I specialize in jeeps. so gotta have 1 of those. lol

On that ad, there's no mention of strand count. #2 should be up around 600 strands. Even one of the review comments states that the cable is a lot stiffer than expected. Review Scottyb's site for battery cabling descriptions. His are the best.

That ad on Amazon does mention strand count. it is 624.
I got the Temco cable in 4 gauge and I love it.
Make sure you also get glue lined marine heat shrink.

I'm all for patronizing site sponsors and I have, but I really enjoyed putting together my own cables.
It is easy and quite inexpensive.

I bought a 35 foot roll of Temco red 2 ga cable. I did make my own (2) lugs with 1/8 hole for the F/R switch and bought 5/16 and 3/8 lugs along with the solider slugs.

I'm a small business owner myself, so I def. like to buy from the same.
But like in my jeep biz everyone uses the term "built not bought" . I try to follow that as much as I can for several reasons. you know the vehicle your building better, all the ins an outs so when you have to trouble shoot an issue a lot of times you can figure it out on your own.
So with this being my 1st cart build I feel I will learn most of the systems if I do all I can myself. Plus right now I have a lil extra time. I wished I could afford the body I want right now. so I could do a full rebuild of it.
Thanx, I like the tip of turning the batteries. I will def use your idea. and I believe you wired the complete cart with 2 ga. do you rem how many of the each size ends you used?
