Default Reed switch blowing fuses

Hi all, I’m a newbie to this site, so let me tell you all a little about what I have and what I have done to my golf cart! Okay I bought my Dads cart and decided to get rid of the old batteries and put in Lithium batteries as the old ones were bloated and wouldn’t take a charge! Okay I have a 2002 Ezgo TXT series 36 volt cart with no run switch on the controller box housing. Okay here’s the issue I took off the old charging plug and wires and took the red wire from the Reed switch and hook it to the #1 positive post which is 36 volts and it blows the little fuse in the fuse box red wire which is a 15 amp fuse. Wondering why? Would appreciate any help from all the cart experts out there?
