Default 1986 Club Car Electric no power

I have a 1986 Club Car Electric. The cart runs on flat ground but when you try to climb a hill, it slows to a stop. I installed a new motor but the problem remains. I have checked all the batteries and they read 6.04 volts each and total a little over 36 volts. it appears that all 5 solenoids are working, but still I have no power going up hills...any thoughts?

Welcome to BGW

36 volts is a dead pack, how long was the batteries off the charger when you took the readings ??, sounds like time for new batteries

yes they are at least 50% discharged with those readings and if thats after a full complete charge and than sitting 12 hours or so then its time for new batteries........you also need to load test them and i,ll bet theres where your problem lies.................................

If you've got a meter you can tape it to the battery pack mains, note the voltage, like 36.7 (hope yours is digital) and then drive it up the hill and tell us what the reading drops to... this is a simple and safe load test.
