Default I Dont Know What I Have

I Have A Cart I Got From My Dad And I Have No Idea What It Is?
It Is A Yamaha But Dont Know Much More. I Found A Number On Some Wires (jg5-82590-02) Any Help? I Have Another Problem, It Will Only Run If I Put Battery Charger On Battery And Start It Up, Then When I Let Up Off The Gas ,and It Stopes It Wont Restart By Just Stepping On Gas. Think It Is Starter/generator Any Help!!!

WELCOME TO THE FORUM
Sounds like you might have a dead battery.

Welcome to the forum chaggy3883................

You'll have to have a good battery to start it unless you have a "High Amp" charger/starter.

Are all of the wires and cables in good condition = clean and tight? Bad conditions or connections are sometimes overcome by the increase in amperage from a charger as you describe?

I Will Have To Check All The Wires. Do You Think It Could The Starter/generator Is Bad? Not Charging The Battery.
Is Their Some Way To Tell What I Have With The Numbers I Gave In The First Post? (year/model) Thanks For The Help

I have not seen a Vin on a wire before? Maybe somewhere on the frame?

I Googled 'what year is my Yamaha golf cart' Here is a great site . Tells where to look and how to decipher what you find! There is info here for all of the Major Makers Guys......Good luck!

The JG5 number you found is the main wireharness part #. You have a G9-a. You should be able to find the cars serial# (from the driverside), look to the left of the battery, on the main frame, just below where the mid body hinges/tilts forward. There should be a brushed aluminum plate with the cars serial# and should start JG5-....... . Seems very strange it will turnover/start with a battery charger and not the "new" battery. I would use a volt meter on the battery and try to start it and see how low the voltage drops. If it drops below 10 volts the car would hesitate or not start at all. Good luck Dave
