12v reducer sparks?
I installed a 48V to 12V reducer to run the Alpha Body kit on a 2017 CP.
The reducer has 2 "In " which the + comes off the + side of battery #6 the blue wire , and the - comes off battery #1 neg side to give it 48v in On the out side of the reducer 12v side , I have the negative wires from the Alpha body kit to the neg out, and the + out to the alpha body light upgrade to their blue wire which is + . I bought the madjax upgrade led light kit that includes horn, brake, turn I got it to work on the last Alpha Body kit I built a few weeks ago, but I don't recall when connecting the blue wire from the reducer In to the blue wire on Batt #6 +, I don't recall a big spark between the two. The rest of their light kit is all plug and play , except where you have to run 1 brown wire to jump over to the purple wire , and instead of using the 2 rocker switches, you use one, with a yellow, blue, black connecting the back of the rocker switch. This is used for hazards |

Should that be positive on battery number one, and negative on battery number six. |

Re: 12v reducer sparks?
Ok maybe I had the batteries mixed up
But I did it that way. The blue wire off the pack to + in and the black wire off the pack to neg in |

Re: 12v reducer sparks?
Does it still work or did you blow something up? It's normal to get a little spark when connecting it to the battery.

Re: 12v reducer sparks?
Its fused with a 20amp fuse and the fuse didn't blow
I just tried to connect it, and it's a loud pop / spark and left a black mark on the connector. It's weird , These are just 2 wires in and 2 wires out. If something was wrong, you would think it would blow the in-line 20amp fuse This is what I bought : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |

Re: 12v reducer sparks?
Does it spark when you connect the 48 volt? If yes that is the capacitors charging. You can connect one of the wires then hold a light bulb on the battery post for the other side then touch the wire to the threads of the bulb to let the capacitor charge for a few seconds. Then you can connect the wire without sparks.
