Default Battery advice needed 2014 Club Car Precident

2014 Club Car Precident 48volt

My mom ,90 yo, has a golf cart to use around her 2.5acr home.

I got it out to check and filll the battery. It seemed to run fine. After I filled all the battery's I went to pull it back in it would kinda shake/jerk. Worse when the peddle is pressed down to the floor.

I tested the batteries. all check at around 8.4volt except one. 6.4
When I check all hooked together I get above 48 volt.

Do I understand correct I SHOULD NOT replace just one battery?

I realize the 2014 batteries are getting old. I was wondering if I could try or do anything before replacing the battery? Replacement as you know are expensive. Last year she only got to use the cart maybe 6 times because of health issues. The cart sees very limited use but is always on charge.

Thanks for the help and your time.

I would say with the age of the pack it would be wasted money to replace one unless you could find a good used one cheap. You could try charging just the low one with a 12v charger to see if you can get it to come back a bit.

Yes, get a good used battery for her. That little bit of usage would not benefit from an ~$800 pack. Our distributor sells "Good" used ones for $35 ea. If they all go to failing or not maintaining a charge, you then will be forced to do differently, but right now a good used one will meet your (her) heeds.

Any tips on using a 12 volt charger on a 8 volt battery?

Think I will try this first as everything is shut down for the virus

You can do this, just watch it carefully and don't let it go too long, or you'll cook the battery.

I would think since the pack voltage rises to about 58v when charging you could monitor the 12v charger and see if it will get to 9 or 9.5v?
