Default Newbie Wondering why my golf cart dies so quickly

I just plugged in the serial number and it told me it was a 1997 club car ds.
The LESTRONIC II Charger that came with the deal does start in the 20-30 amperes range and then goes down to around 3 amperes then shuts off. Now I got a voltage meter like y’all told me and I measured every 6 volt battery. After charging 4 of them were at 6.0 and above 1 was at 5.9 and 1 was at 1.8. So can I just replace the one until I can save some money to buy all 6? Will just replacing the bad one or two make the cart last longer than 5 min or so like it’s doing now? It takes off when I first jump on it but it limps home after a 5 minute ride up the road.

Sounds like you need a full set of batteries.
6.0v is still not a "good" battery.
It sounds like you have 4 batteries that are around 50%, one battery that's 30-40% and one that is garbage.
Wait until you can afford 6 new batteries.

A buddy of mine just bought new 2019 dated T105 Trojans for $438 out the door at a shop here in the Atlanta area yesterday.
It's a big investment but well worth it.

He's in GA where they sell a TON of batteries because it's golf cart mecca down there.

If I were you I would convert that cart to solid state and 48V. Better power, better speed, better run time, and a lot less headache than the V-glide and toaster coils that cart has now.
