It is simply the deliverable amp-hour capability. I had many with 4x12's and never changed them over. I have had many with 6x8's and liked them too. The most you will ever get it a big lithium pack or a 8x6's.... They give a lot of usable AH's.

I have 4-12's and have thought about converting to 6-8's, but after looking at the cost vs gain I probably never will. I'll probably never go far enough in a day to need the extra capacity. I would like to convert to lithium at some point, but that would be more for speed than distance. And that's a want, not a need.

Way I red it is that you have more surface area of the plates inside the batteries. Which allows you to run longer or go the same distance but deplete the batteries less.

They are also lighter and easier to work with.

Got it all converted today. 2 day job but pretty easy.

I decided to take out the OBC altogether and just go with the Summit II by Lester. I’ll probably mount the charger in the cart but I don’t know where I’d do that.

So, I need to buy batteries today. My cart came original with 4x12v. I ride around the neighborhood no more than a couple miles per outing, mainly just over to friends to drink beer LOL Any need for me to convert? I have no problem doing it but if there's no huge difference, I'd rather just skip the extra work and drink more beer :)

Absolutely not. I have had 4x12's in many carts and never has an issue. Just be sure to get good quality batteries. I prefer US battery and had many of them in my 4x12 carts. But Trojan or Crown are excellent also. My last set was easily good for better than 15 miles as I did it frequently. Could go more, but that was the end of the trip.

Thanks! I went with the 4 12's. Crown is what this particular dealer carried. Between these and a set of 8v for the other cart this week, I'm about tapped out on battery money LOL
