Batteries
Wondering how often you guys top off your batteries. I keep my cart plugged in. Two of the batteries are getting fluid on top, especially one of them. So I'm thinking I am filling them too often. I top them off every 4 to 6 weeks. I fill them so that they are about half way up the plastic 'depth gauge' in each cell. I'm also thinking I may be overfilling them, as I seem to recall you're only supposed to fill it enough to just touch the bottom of that 'depth gauge'.
Also, I thought the Club Car had a full plastic liner for the battery compartment, to prevent any leaking. I'm getting fluid on the garage floor. It is a clear fluid and is eating away at the epoxy liner on the garage floor. I first thought this was transmission fluid. But now thinking it is battery overflow. Thoughts? |

Re: Batteries
Yes, you’re definitely overfilling them. You want the electrolyte level 1/8” to 1/4” BELOW the plastic well. Also, only fill them after they’ve been fully charged. As far as frequency of filling goes, once a month is the standard. Precedents do have a plastic battery tray, but it won’t prevent acid from spilling onto the ground. That is battery acid eating your floor, simply due to overfilling.

Re: Batteries
My old Trojan batteries had to be topped off about once a month.
I replaced them with US batteries last summer. I have not needed to add distilled water since installation. Granted, I don't use my cart a lot these days but I keep it on a maintainer when not in use. When ever I do need to add water, I like to fill to about 1/4" above the battery plates. |

Re: Batteries
Thank you for the replies. I'll stop overfilling them. I always thougt they had to be just a bit above the bottom of the plastic tabs that stick down.
