This method works well for me.

I left the original 4 gauge cable going through the obc and routed the new 2 gauge cable around (both connected to negative on battery #6 ) and it runs great.

The only problem is that the battery charger now will not shut off.
It worked fine before. It comes on, then drops to 5 amps and just stays there humming away. Anything I can do, or should I just use the 'bolt through the obc' adapter method?

You need to go through the OBC or it can't function in some models. I believe the older Gen 1-3 OBCs are more likely to tolerate the bypass method.
Generally speaking the bypass has been pooh poohed by some of the best technicians we could find

I have one cable (the original one) going through the obc and it is being detected. Before, I had put the new 2 gauge cable around, not knowing it had to go through the hole in the obc.

So I added back the old 4 gauge through the obc as well as the 2 gauge routed around (2 gauge didn't fit through the hole) and this enabled the cart to charge and putting the 4 gauge cable back on stopped the orange battery light from coming on and going off randomly which happened when the 2 gauge routed around was the only cable.

So I have both the old 4 gauge going through the obc and the new 2 gauge going to the same posts.

Like I said, it runs great but for some reason the charger does not shut off.

I removed the 2 gauge and left the 4 gauge going through the obc and then the charger shuts off. Put the 2 gauge back on, with the 4 gauge still going through the obc, and it charges, but the charger doesn't shut off any more. Stays stuck on 5 amps and charging.

I went with brass when I did mine and used 2 layers of shrink tube . worked great. Ace Hardware has toilet seat kits that has pretty much everything you need rubber/plastic washers just make sure its solid brass and not coated

I am curious....It seems Ballowes has not done anything more to his cart than change to 2 ga wire. And it made that much difference?? How??

I understand more amps need more wire but how will just adding wire help a limited motor?

Did he just by chance put clean wire and hardware on that he may have needed anyway?
