Re: g1 battery
My G1 does not charge well either.
I opened my voltage regulator and cleaned the point hoping it would improve the charging voltage, no real gains as yet. The early regulators do have a voltage adjustment but to me the system is so antiquated I question how much effort should go into it. I am thinking upgrading to the later G14 regulator may offer the best charge performance. |

Re: g1 battery
It could be your starter/generator - put rear on jack stands and meter while running close to WOT. Mine puts out about 15V and I don't have any trouble with battery holding charge.
