Re: 89 Marathon S/G melting DF wire
Yes. I suspect it won't change.

Re: 89 Marathon S/G melting DF wire
No matter what it's doing, your meter should read it. I know it works on your truck, but I would try a different meter. Something cheap without auto range. After that, take the starter apart, and look for obvious shorts. I suspect the small df terminal, but it really is just a guess.

Re: 89 Marathon S/G melting DF wire
I have continuity between A1-A2 , F1-DF-F2. No continuity to the casing between any of those and none between the two groups.

Re: 89 Marathon S/G melting DF wire
I'm going to assume that you already have this manual. https://app.box.com/s/3habgxrtgz
I'm also assuming that you have replaced to melted wire, and it's running. Have you noticed the wire getting warm while we are doing these tests? Have you been driving it? When your meter resets itself, I wonder if it's picking up more than the 600v from the ignition, or if it's picking up an AC source. Though, I don't know of anything that would be AC. Your continuity readings are all as they should be. I just don't know where to go with it besides trying a different meter for curiosity. Over in the EZGO electric cart section is a guy named Johnnie B. He is a true electrical expert. Try reaching out to him. He might have some insight. |

Re: 89 Marathon S/G melting DF wire
Ok thanks I will have to try him.
Also I ended up checking ohms and I did have 13 Mohm between F2 and the casing wish I’m assuming it should be open. next would be to inspect that stud and see why. |

Re: 89 Marathon S/G melting DF wire
These readings are from the 85 manual. I will check the 89 manual to see if they are the same. Check out item H.
Chapter 19 page R-15 of the 89 manual. Pretty much the same. 5 ohms between df, and f1. https://app.box.com/s/3habgxrtgz/file/626083973 |
