DCS at 42v going too fast
Took the cart out last night. It been on a DPI charger for over a week and a half since last use
I drove 5 miles to a hangout spot and then let the cart sit about two hrs and drove back. Mostly flat or the slightly tiniest incline or decline for the road I took. Same road back decided to see what's speeds I was running. Cart ran 26-28mph on the way back. I verified the average speed as 26.3 over almost a 4 mile stretch. On the way home I even took a different street that has a 25mph posted speed limit and has a radar that displays your speed and it was fasting 27mph the entire time I was approaching the sign. No wind, windshield down, at this point batteries had about 11-12miles of use Am I about to blow this thing up? I recall ScottyB math indicating ~28mph is equivalent to max rpms for a DCS motor can take. |

Re: DCS at 42v going too fast
You are right at 6200 motor rpm at that speed. That is pushing it for a constant top speed. Curious as to what your motor temps are at that speed.

Well driving tonight to dinner. Heard spark spark sound quickly pulled over and smoke coming out
Of controller with red light blinking on top of controller. FML. Wasn't even going fast approx 24-25. Working on getting it home and then where do I start. Gut says fried controller? It's not even two years old! |

Re: DCS at 42v going too fast
Flip it to tow before you pull it. Don't want to burn up the motor

Re: DCS at 42v going too fast
Neutral isn't the same as with cars. The motor will still spin, but in neutral and set in tow, it will be electrically isolated from regen feeding the controller to charge the batteries.
When it's working, neutral won't allow the cart to move, when pressing the "gas" pedal. |

Re: DCS at 42v going too fast
There is another thread on this now, seems the motor gave it up.
