2005 EZGO TXT PDS; Possible Solenoid Issue

I have a new to me 2005 EZ GO TXT PDS. Yesterday afternoon it decided to stop moving. When in the "ON" and "FWD or REV" position the golf cart will merely jump slightly in either fwd or rev then die. If you continue to press the accelator I do hear a distinctive "CLICK" coming from the control box. After reading many threads on the web I am starting to think I need a new Solenoid. I will be stopping at the store and getting a voltmeter to check it but am I heading the in the right direction? The voltage meter we have installed on the dash that tells us the amount of charge on the batteries is at full charge and all other components work. If this was you would you just go ahead and replace the Solenoid? And anything besides the Solenoid I would need to make sure I have such as cables?

It could easily be the solenoid. Before you start be aware that PDS carts do not like sparks, so flip that switch to Tow and remove one cable from between your batteries before you start working on the cart.

Thank you for the advice on the battery cable...wouldn't have thought to do that. But my neighbors do come running when they see a female with a tool in her hand. ;o)

Could it also be a micro-switch ?
