Default Exactly what is this Yamaha

here is the serial number J31-006985 which seems to be an 85' G1 2 stroke gasser but I cannot seem to find this model with the full size headlights up under the windshield in the way that this one has

anyone know just what I have here in terms of a model other than the G! designation

and what horse power did Yamaha rate these strokers at anyway

I'd have to guess that the lights are a custom aftermarket install. It's been done before with the G1 cowl.

Nice cart.

Thanks, the VIN idicates a 1984 G1 gas, it is a injected stroker

but the thing is the underside/backside of the cowling shows no signs of being modified

it is as smooth as can be on the back side just as it would when pulled from the mold and the patina on the backside is the same as well showing no indication of fiberglass work and subsequent grinder marks or lumpy 'blend in if it wasn't ground

so I think this remains a mystery at this point

is it some very limited edition run

if it isn't then maybe an aftermarket company did a run of these as it is a steller job definitely not done at home or in a body shop

any other info or opinions out there ?

That would make sense.

well I took some pictures down to where Yami's were sold some years ago and the old guy in the back confirmed it is just a G1 that somebody did a super job of inserting those pots into the cowl

I would say they must have ever so carefully sectioned those inserts out of something and then again with utter precision cut the cowl and then carefully epoxyed the seam because it is really nice work

Sure looks factory to me (and really '80s cool), even tho the factory had no intentions of lights back then (how are you gonna play GOLF at night?). Funny tho, the G3 sunclassic is the predecessor to the ezgo 2Five of today (LSV-type vehicle, but didnt go 25mph). Sunclassic (G5) was also first golfcart ever to have rack-&-pinion steering.
