Quick Charger questions
Hi,
I just set my cart up with a Quick Charger 72V I have 6 X 12 V deep cycle (Autozone) batteries. They are smaller than cart batteries and are rated at 85 Amp Hrs. There are 4 types of charge cycle. (mine is set on F2) as recomended for deep cycle wet batteries. My question is the "Gassing Cycle" Setting. I can use "d0" for a fixed 3 yrs, of "d1" for for proportional. The charger instructions states "in most cases either of these two modes is acceptable" I can tell you that the charger works intierly different between these two modes. In d1 proportional setting the charger will charge to 80% and then show "CC" or charge complete almost instantly. in d0 setting it charges to 80% and then continues to charge for another 3 hrs. First of all, I dont understant "gassing" just yet nor do I know what setting will be appropriate for my batteries Please Advise http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w...eryCharger.jpg |

Re: Quick Charger questions
Gassing sounds to me like it could be the same as finishing cycle on the late model automatic chargers. If the manufacturer is unable to provide you with the info.......I would try the different modes and stand by with a voltmeter to check what it is doing. Lester chargers put out a max charge (21 or 25 amps) for a fairly short period of time, then a medium charge(12 to 15 amps), and then a finish or balance cycle of 6 to 8 amps until the pack reaches a preset capacity.... Hope this helps? I would like to know more about your 72 volt cart.

Re: Quick Charger questions
What voltage do the batteries finish at? They should not exceed 15V per 12V battery. The batteries should not exceed 20* above ambient on the plastic case. If the longer charge does not fall into one of these scenarios then use that setting.
