Default Removing the forward/reverse switch on g9

Hi everyone Im new to this site and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction.

How do I remove the forward/reverse switch on my Yamaha 1992 g9 golf cart. Im wanting to paint all the body panels and the panel has the switch going through it with I can't seem to figure out how to remove it.

Thanks

There is a clip on the back of the handle, between the handle and the body. Need some kind of short "L" type of hook to pull it off the handle. Beware, it will fly many feet away from where it came from, so be ready to catch or at least watch where it goes!! After getting the tool under the clip, I put a rag over it to catch the clip.

After loosing at least 4 of them, this is what I did to eliminate the problem!!

Hope this helps!

This one did not have the clip on the outside it was on the inside, I let it soak over night in WD-40 , removed the clip and a little tap and it came right out.

Thanks for your help.

That would have been nice to know.. I removed the holding nut on the inside and pushed the lever off the spline shaft to remove.

Next I have to figure out how to get the choke knob off so I can repaint....
