Default How to remove G1 steering column

So all the panels are off for painting then realize the stupid steering column is that awful off white also. I figured it would be easier to remove the columnto save time on taping off the frame and other misc items. Well, the four bolts holding the "gear box" to the frame is no problem; I then move to the large nut that holds the tie rods to the pivoting bracket and couldnt budge it.
I figured id ask arou d here to see if tyere is a special technique that I am not following or whether I just need to man up and upgrade to A breaker bar?

No need to remove that large nut. Just go ahead and pull the tie rods out of the bracket.

14mm wrench between the boot of the ball joint and bracket. there is 2 flat spots on the shaft under the boot. If you look real close you should be able to see them.

Yeah it's a pain in the a$$ removing it with that bracket still attached. I just replaced the steering column on one of my G1s a few weeks ago.
