Default 87 ezgo 2-cycle motor with no spark

Motor was running fine all day, went to park it at night and wouldn't fire. Plug is old but in decent shape just not getting any spark. Any ideas? Thanks, Kyle

On your other thread you just said no spark, do I now understand that you did have spark and had it running and then lost spark?
Check all the basics, wire connections all good, nothing shorted out, or open, etc. If there is nothing obvious, pull the plug and check for spark. If no spark, it is most likely either the CDI box or coil. The Pick up seems pretty bullet proof as I have not heard anyone who had one go bad, (but that would keep you from getting spark also). The stock replacement parts are more than I would spend, so I would do a GM HEI conversion. The module should set you back around $7 and is a great upgrade. A GM HEI coil is more, but still a great upgrade.

Cool Re: 87 ezgo 2-cycle motor with no spark

The guy who had it before me has the wiring everywhere. Soon as you put it in forward it turns over. I'm either going to rewire myself if I can find the wiring diagram, have a shop do it or gut it and out and motor swap. Don't know yet.

Go to the 2nd post of this thread. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...ml#post1215343

It's a pdf file of the 85 manual. It is the same as yours, and has a wiring diagram.
