Shortening steering column
Not sure where this belongs, but I’m wondering if anyone has bothered shortening the steering column on a G2 - or any cart for that matter. It might be mine just looks too “tall”
Thanks |

Re: Shortening steering column
There's some more threads about this here . One guy used a 2x2" piece of angle iron to get the steering shaft straight to weld, worked nice

Re: Shortening steering column
Thanks !
Plenty of good information, as always. So it’s like shortening any other shaft: sleeve or pin then weld properly. If ever I get to it , I will post pictures! |

Thanks Spriddle -
Appropriate reminder. I have 20+ years as an aerospace machinist, so I assume things for me, that shouldn’t be assumed for all. Glad you’re watching. |

Re: Shortening steering column
Thanks for the link Rib,
I remember my dad’s last project, a ‘67 Cougar that had a swing-away steering wheel ( in addition to tilt function) that would flip the wheel out of the way for us larger folks - This set-up looks similar; and more ambitious than what I have time for these days. |

Re: Shortening steering column
I'm going to look into this (fat guy here). I also like what sassycat did by lowering the gear box, since my cart is lifted this might be the way to go and might also fix the steering geometry.
