Default 2002 Yamaha G16 gas smoking alot

Recently started blowing blue smoking and stalling out without any prior issues. A lot of gas in the oil and blowback in the air filter compartment, spark plug was coated. We removed the carb and the float appeared to be fine. Replaced the spark plug and oil. It will run a short distance then starts to smoke. We did a compression test & it was at 150. Called a golf cart mechanic and he said $1500 to pull and send to Yamaha in Georgia for a complete rebuild. Thanks for any help.

Gas in the oil, and oil in the air filter, is a sign of a bad needle valve in the carb. Hopefully, you still have the OEM Mikuni carb.

Replace the gasket, too. Search part numbers, and order OEM parts.

Also, I don't think Yamaha does rebuilds, they're in the game of selling engines. You could order a whole new G22 engine from Yamaha for less, it would be an upgrade in a G16, includes a new carb, and bolts right up to all your existing stuff. Part number JR6-19001-00-00 ENGINE ASSEMBLY

I have same issue. The oil is getting more full and it is causing smoking.

Do i just replace needle and seat and gasket? Or do i have someone with knowledge do it and make sure the float is set right?

Or buy a aftermarket one?

Disassemble the carb, clean, and replace the needle valve and gasket. The float is plastic and isn't really adjustable, to my knowledge. Keep the OEM Mikuni carb.
