Default Melted resistors

Howdy,
Just got back from Broken Bow Lake. Took my cart up and rode some trails. I got into one trail with lots of big rocks and had to go slow. By the end of the trail, two of the three resistors had melted and fallen off. I am running 48 volts. Does anyone make heavier duty resistors for an old style EZGO?

Thanks,
Kirk

Nope.....I have heard of modifying resistors but in the end the same thing will happen. Keep your eye out for a used controller. You will even gain some run time by switching over to a controller.

the longer you run the cart slow the hotter the resistor coils will get thats there job..............as for melting it could be the age of them or some dirty loose connections at the coils but they do get red hot at slow speeds.....................................

Thanks for the replies. The resistor board and speed board were new. I took a look at my speed contacts. They are pretty beat up already also. I think I'm thinking about going with a LogiSystems 700 amp controller and a potentiometer with a micro switch. Other than a 48v solenoid, is there anything else I will need? I have already upgraded to 4 ga wires throughout.

Thanks,
Kirk

Nope...sounds good. You will be glad you made the switch to a controller.
