Re: 85 2PG engine rebuild tips
For definite the 3PG does not use them as the piston design is different (maybe on purpose to eliminate the spacer) but the 2PG does use them and they are not included in the rebuild kit. There might be some proof that you don't actually need them by the number of guys who seem not to have them.

Re: 85 2PG engine rebuild tips
In my service manual for the ezgo Textron 89-93 on page H-21 it makes reference to the spacers. "PISTON PIN AND BEARING INSPECTION. Inspect the piston pin bearings and spacers for wear. If the bearings show wear, replace the bearings, spacers and pin." That is the only place it mentions spacers, when you get to the part about reassembly it doesn't mention putting the spacers in at any point. Looks like I'm not going to worry about it and put back in what I took out.

Re: 85 2PG engine rebuild tips
Hmmmm... Textron 89-93 would be a 3PG which does not use the spacers. I would bet that EZGO just copied parts of the 2PG manual and inadvertently left in the the word "spacer". If you have a 2PG I think that you need the spacers to stop the little end roller bearing sliding on the wrist pin. Whilst $20.20 for a set of spacers is a rip it does bring a certain peace of mind.

Re: 85 2PG engine rebuild tips
Scott, Yes use the old ones that is what i did and everything worked out fine. I should have stated that I thought that the guys who didn't have them should buy new ones, but you are fine.
