electrical system testing
So, while my engine is soaking in the MARVEL miracle oil I figured I would try to test some of the electrical parts.
I bought a new key switch and solenoid, but don't want to replace things if I don't have to. Any tricks/techniques to testing the other parts of the electrical system? |

I use a cheep resistance tester from radio shack. When testing resistance the tester will push power and if the power is coming all the way around the needle will go up on the tester. Best tool to chase wire breaks on trailers too.

A multimeter with a built in continuity tester is handy... you get a tone when there is continuity so you don't have to look at the meter all the time. Mulimeter is good because you can test multiple ways...
Looking at your pictures, it would probably be a good idea to clean every electrical connection on the cart... even if it looks clean and tight. Also lube all of your micro switches... mine were all sticking... especailly in the throttle box |

Thanks! I have a multimeter, just wasn't sure how I was supposed to test all of the components, what readings to look for, what position switches needed to be in to get the correct reading, etc.

Without a wiring diagram you'll just have to stare at it for a while and follow each circuit that's what I did.
Except for the forward/reverse switch, it's pretty basic. Even that switch can be figured put if you look at it long enough lol Your going to be looking for 12v or continuity tone if you don't have a battery hooked up |
