Default Problems with Jake's lift kits??

I was talking with a Club Car dealer/service facility yesterday about lift kits and he said that he doesn't prefer the Jake's kits primarily because with the lift kit attached to the factory spindle, the new lifted spindle is outboard of the center of the turning pivot point and as a result the front wheels tend to crab while turning. This crabbing, he claimed, will lead to premature wear on the tires and place undue stress on the new Jake's spindle.

He prefers (and sells) the All Sports lift kits.

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a Jake's kit for my '97 Carryall II and will appreciate any relevant comments from folks who are more knowledgeable than I. (That wouldn't be difficult) Thanks. Bill

Big red flag, of course this clown would talk down Jakes when he sells allshorts lifts.

Lockman, I am considering the Jake's 3" kit Part# 6231-3LD or possibly the equivalent 6" kit.

Does this matter re the caution?

Well i guess it all depends on how rough you are on your cart. I currently have a 6" Jake Spindle lift kit and I'm pretty hard on it (hunt, going down trails, pull stuff with it, etc..) and bent something on the front end. I'm new to the site but from what i can tell the spindle lifts dont hold up as well as the a-arm kits. Will be ordering one soon don't know what brand yet.

Ask him if All Sports is still using inferior Mexican Steel tubing?

I've been running an Allsports LT frontend on my Ezgo workhorse for a few years and I'm very pleased with it.

I've had that 3" spindle lift on my cart for some 5 years now... and I've beat the heck out of it!

Yep! you use the stock "king pins", and hubs,
and on my cart, there is absolutely no wear on the king pins, KP bushings, or the tires! So... there's no bad referral here!

(I'm not saying the All Sports spindle lift is bad... I just preferred the beefiness of the Jakes!)

Kinda' weird... My CC dealer doesn't push any particular brand, it's really up to what the customer wants to spend!

I'm not fond of the spindle lift. It keeps all of your other stock components, that might be worn. They seem to steer weird to me, although that might just be me.

Don's cart was almost new when he relifted it.

Maybe check the jakes double a arm lift. It is almost identical to the allsports, as it appears anyways.

I have a couple of the allsports, and they seem to be holding up ok. If i lift another it will be with the jakes double a arm kit.

I'll be installing a Jakes LT on my Yamaha G9 the end of next week. It was my second LT purchase, the first was for an EZGO txt. I wouldn't think about getting any other lift. Period.
