Medalist drive belt
I've recently purchased what I believe is a great great 1996 medalist, has the 9hp robin motor in it. The previous owner said he put a new belt on it two years ago, im not to familiar with golf carts but snowmobile have the same clutches which I'm familiar with and the belt on the golf cart rides really low in the driven clutch where it should be 1/8 inch above the edge of the clutch. The belt that is on it is a Dayco 72054-G01 which is the proper belt from what I can find but is there a the tighter belt that would perform better and fit properly? Or could that belt possibly be worn out that bad already cause I don't think it should be worn that bad for 2 years old

Re: Medalist drive belt
I checked you belt part number and thats the right belt. The normal position of the belt and clutches with the motor off is the driven clutch should be closed and the belt at top of sheaves or slightly above and he drive clutch open and the belt resting on the spindle. If the belt on driven clutch is down, then belt will be loose and the problem is in the driven clutch. Probably a weak spring or clutch is dirty and is sticking .
