I think someone's getting the late 80's KF82's and the 92+ FE290's confused...

I don't know KF82 flathead's very well, just from what I've read in Springbok's posts,
I "think"... (don't quote me) that the early 80's had a separate ignitor, and the 89 to 91's had an exciting coil, (ignitor/coil combined)
That would be one of the first things I would check for a "no spark" condition.

Your 1989 cart should not have that separate rev limiter. From what I've seen, the stand-alone rev limiter was only used on late 1990 and 1991 carts.

The picture you put up is not the "black box of death", which I assume you mean to be the rev limiter. Pictured is just part of black cover plate that bolts to the motor.
