Default Re: First Step is Admitting a Problem

I got the drive clutch out. No problems and popped out real easy. First picture is what it looked up after being opened up. Second picture is showing the clutch after I cleaned it up and a tab that is only on one plastic piece. I assume all three plastic pieces should have this tab? Are the plastic pieces replaceable? They are fairly worn on one side. Are there any areas that need some type of lube now that I've cleaned the inside?

The 3 plastic pieces are called "buttons", and yes... they're due for replacement!

The one "tab" thingy your talking about is a "button spring"... there should only be one, and a replacement with come with a button kit!
And...
NO! you don't lube anything inside a CC drive clutch, they're designed to run dry due to debris collecting on lubed parts!
(however... I've been informed that a VERY slight coating on the buttons, and thrust washer may not hurt anything!)

Depending on how bad your thrust washer is worn, you can either flip it over, or get a new one while your in there!

Trust washer looks ok and buttons are on order. When they come in, I will do a full service on the engine and some cleaning while the clutch side is exposed.

Hmmm, got my button kit in and there are 3 button springs in the bag. Does Club Car really give you three when only one is to be used?

In a Google search I stumbled across a certain someone's photobucket image. According to this image there should be one spring per button for a total of three springs. Am I misreading the above post where you said

? I'm reading this in that there should be only one tab spring in the whole clutch which would be the same as to what I have now.

Only use 1 spring, and let the other 2 buttons just "flop around"!
