To the Kentucky folks, I spent some time in your fine state, even a Wildcat fan. I meant no disrespect, and I was not comparing you with Florida or the Arizona low country. If you think about it, if you misrepresent torque, a person could easily be out $1,000 for motor/solenoid/controller&wiring upgrades trying to chase it when what is really be gained is horsepower and rpm's. As far as spinning the tires that may be more of a function of tire tread pattern not matching the torque that is being applied to that pattern given the surface. |

Big Blue Nation casts a wide swath across this country!
I took no offense...we here in Kentucky tend to make fun of ourselves as much as other's do. I have 2 nephews and a niece that call me uncle dad! |

Re: 5HP motor speed maxed?
Six months after installing this motor, because of the lack of torque with the stock controller, I upgraded to a Curtis 1268 400A controller and then that motor was very strong. Immegiately got to 28mph and could accelerate well from the bottom of a 20° incline. All the motor needed to make it great was more amps.
You are probably right about the MCOR, especially if it is the original. A simple way to check that MCOR when you have that jumpy low pedal stuff going on is to leave key off, mash pedal fast about 20-25 times, then power up and see it it is smoother running. If so, replace the MCOR. This test can clean the wiper temporarily and can remove the jumpiness. |

RXLuke: Attached are two pdf's. A two part parts manual for the early model Precedent that might come in handy for you.
