so i ordered a controller that they told me the was the one that i need according to year golf cart i have serial#AQ0517-498177 the controller they sent me is a curtis 1204m-5302 and it is nowhere near the same as the one i took off the cart the alltrax dcx300r19 is the one that came off it and all the posts are different i looked up the dcx it looks like not a whole lot of people carry them anymore and i found a xct48300-iq controller that looks to have the same plug end that was on the original circuit board on the dcx my question is will xct hook up the same and is it worth changing to the xct

Wow, the Curtis 1204M is a Series Motor Controller, You have an Sepex cart.

Yes, the Alltrax XCT would be a much better option to replace the old DCX Controller.

You should get it from one of our site sponsors, they would never sell you a Series Controller to go on a Club Car with an AQ Serial Number.

The XCT48300iq is right for your cart based on the serial number you posted. But you could get the 400, or 500 amp versions if you desire more speed/torque. If you go for one of the bigger ones you may need larger wires, and solenoid. Depending on what you have in the cart now. Being that somebody upgraded to a DCX300 at some point you may already have larger battery cables and solenoid. From what I understand the XCT300 will be a little bit of an upgrade from the DCX300. Again buying a bigger controller would be based on what you use the cart for, and what you want out of it.

The XCT300 is a direct replacement for your controller. whit71 is correct, the 400 and 500 are also available, but you must install additional upgrades in order to use them. The 300 requires no other upgrades. Plus, I don't recommend more than 300 amps on a factory GE motor that your 2005 is supposed to be equipped with.

the motor has been replaced with a little bit bigger motor but its not alot its only 1 hp bigger and according to the sticker doesnt require anything more 300 amp controller and its been working great for about 2 years with the set up that was on it so i will have to get the right controller for it

What is the make and model of your motor?
It may be able to handle the XCT 400 just fine plus you'll be happy with the added torque and tuneability of the AllTrax

(is tuneability even a word?)

i dont know if i really want the folks that are drivin it to have any more speed or torque as they dont exactly take care of anything and they aint the sharpest tools in the shed so i think im gonna go with the 300 amp

Both the 300 and the 400 are easily programmable for Maximum speed. If you have a PC and a USB (printer) cable, you'll be able to change the parameters. If you can provide the motor information when ordering the controller, it can be pre-programmed for your motor.
