1994 Yamaha G9 exhaust

Howdy all, new guy here with a question regarding the exhaust on the G9. I recently acquired the subject cart and while it starts and runs well, after about 5 or so minutes of running down the road, it gets pretty hot and the speed drops... it then becomes very hard to start until it cools down. I've read several post that state to check the piston head fins for dirt and debris and to ensure the exhaust is not clogged. In order to do those steps, I need to get the exhaust off but I have a threaded stud, nut and lock washer on one side of the flange and some "odd" piece that is round with a groove in it possibly pressed into the other side of the flange? My question is - should I have two threaded studs with nuts/washers or is this "pressed in" piece normal? I've tried to find pictures of installed G9 exhaust showing both sides of the flange but have not seen any. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

Should be two studs threaded into engine,then gasket, exhaust,lock washer and nut

Can't remember how many post until you can send a picture but send one as soon as you can and maybe we can help figure out how to remove it sounds crazy but did you try vise grips yet?

I'll get back down to the boat later this week and get some pics. I didnt mess with it too much until I could find out whether it was normal or not and there was some trick to removing it. I'll get some PB on it and some vice grips and see what happens.

For what it's worth one of the most common problems with these Carts is the ignitor goes bad. If you look at my first picture there is a little black box under The fuel pump both screwed to the fuel tank. Your symptoms may be due to the bad ignitor. sometimes malfunction when hot! If you have access to a spark tester you can eliminate the ignitor until you can get the exhaust off. parts store has spark tester for around$10

Carefull, it can also be a soon to fail TCI...
