Re: G1 electric to gas conversion
Basically you will need all the components of a gas cart. If your motor is a 4stroke you will need a transaxle with forward and reverse, and the shift mechanism to switch between the 2. The motor will have to have a charge system and electric starter/ The motor will need the primary clutch and the transaxle a secondary clutch.

Re: G1 electric to gas conversion
I have the rear axle and engine assembly from an 82 G1 with the engine stand and electronics. I found a g1E with good body and roof no batteries for $200

Re: G1 electric to gas conversion
I also believe the entire rear suspension and arm is totally different. Likely will require some heavy frame modifications to have a place to mount the engine. The major issue is that the distance from the front clutch (on engine) and rear clutch (on transmission) must stay at a preset distance from each other and cannot change as the suspension moves. I believe the rear suspension is much shorter on an electric, with no room to mount the gas engine. It's a much easier conversion on G14 and newer, as they are more similar between gas & electric.

Re: G1 electric to gas conversion
I cant much in the way of pics for the electric g1 but what little i can find it would seem you are correct. it would be one thing to replace a swing arm but not looking to do all that fab work.
thanks mike |
