Yamaha G1 Engine Silence
Good evening!
Is there anyway of quieting the sound of a G1 golfcart. Changing the muffler? What are the drawbacks of insulating the engine compartment with insulation board. Any suggestions? Thank you! |

Re: Yamaha G1 Engine Silence
does your exhaust have holes in it? I replaced mine which had a hole rotted in it with a good use one and it is very quiet.

Re: Yamaha G1 Engine Silence
G1s are the louder of the Yamaha carts unless your exhaust is rusted and has holes there is not a lot you can do it's just the nature of the beast

Re: Yamaha G1 Engine Silence
My G1 is pretty quiet. That said I have an old Columbia that was so loud the neighbors yelled at me everytime I drove it. Do the basics. Make sure your differential is lubed. Perhaps try a new muffler. At least make sure it's seated right and the flanges are good. Lube your clutch axles.
All of this failed on my Columbia. I narrowed the noise down to something internal in the engine, probably crank bearings which I am not fixing unless they fail. I ended up lining the entire under body with this: https://www.amazon.com/Noico-deadeni...=dynamat&psc=1 When I say entire under body I mean there was just about no part that was left uncovered. 1 kit did the whole cart with just about nothing left over. The stuff worked. I would say a 33% reduction in sound. The cart is still on the loud side but noticeably better than it was. |

Re: Yamaha G1 Engine Silence
I had installed peel/stick sound foam and I think it helped. My G1 was quieter than a buddy's G19.
