Default Should it Idle?

Guys,

My cart starts to roll while starting. Is this normal? It's my first cart (G16) and I'm not a golfer so I have no reference point. My primary needs rollers, the sheaves are wavy, the secondary helix has ruts worn in it, and the belt seems loose. So lots to fix, but want to understand what is normal so I know when to declare success.

Thanks
Chilly

No idle, when you press the gas pedal it should start and go, when you release the pedal it should shut the engine off. Sounds like you need clutch work/replacement.

I agree with Ron. I'd probably be more inclined to just replace both clutches if they are really bad off. The rear sounds like it is shot. More than likely the inner bushing is gone as well. Check out Plowman's or some of our other sponsors for a good setup: clutch, belt and all.... especially if you plan on lifting it.

Thanks for confirmation, guys. For sure the primary need at least rollers. I'll start there, and do intend to purchase from Plowmans. May just let him rebuild it. Eventually I'll have the entire clutch assembly back in new condition.

I personally don't plan to lift it but I'll be kind to the next owner, should I sell it before we wear it out.
