79 g1a runs great forward, not in reverse
79 g1a, starts instantly and drives great forward.
turn off, and key to reverse, it will crank and spark, but spark is way off from where it should be (at the bottom of the stroke). Does not start or run in reverse. The spark is off about the same as the degrees worth of magnets on the flywheel (about 1/3). Should not be 120 degrees difference in spark advance from forward to reverse... Does the CDI ignition adjust spark in reverse? (cart is for sale 1200 in Mukwonago WI) |

I'm guessing the magneto plate shifted under the flywheel and it's advanced in fwd retarded in rev (or vice versa) and it just happens to run fine one way.

there are 2 magnets and an opposing weight. maybe it fires twice per revolution?

betting the wiring that goes into the cdi on this one is wrong.
