Default Noob 2012.6 G29 Govenor ?, Yeah I know

We just bought our first car its a used fleet 2012.5 Gas G29. When we bought it they had turned down the speed since it was a car they would rent out. They adjusted the speed up when we bought it.
My question is this. I have seen others say that the governor should be adjusted so that there is about 1 inch of the threaded rod sticking out to avoid over-reving and having oil get in the muffler etc. They have tightened it passed the 1 inch mark. Is this ok? I have seen the post about bypassing the govenor but this car is used to haul kids around the neighborhood and my 10 year old will be driving it sometimes as long as an adult is with her. Speed isnt a big deal. keeping the engine healthy is though.
Thanks in advance for the help. Glad I found this place.

Stock governor setting 10-12 mph, turned up 20 mph. I believe 1" threads showing is about stock (10-12 mph). 2012.5 non EFI cars do not have a rev limiter. You be the judge. Keep them safe, teach them some basic driving skills to be safe when they drive there first car. Now that did not work with me...my dad gave us motorcycles and we tested and thrashed them to the extreme

Awesome! thanks for the reply. It seems to be running fine, no odd sounds smells etc. Just wanted to be sure it wouldn't get us down the road.
