Default G2 Fuel Tank Filter Leaking

Hi all!
Well I finally got my 1985 G2 cart ready to hit the road and as I was putting in the gas in it was coming out by the fuel filter. Ugh! I put on a brand new filter with gasket. Tightened it. And it still leaked. I finally decided to take out the fuel tank and get a good look at the threads and filter. I took off the filter and carefully screwed it back on. When I got close to the end the filter slipped and then screwed on crooked. I tried pushing down while putting it in. Nothing worked. Any ideas? I’d appreciate the help! I uploaded a pic of the fuel filter.
Karen

Aftermarket filter or oem? Best advice is to take oem filter and cut out filter and reinstall it And add in line filter simply because aftermarket never seal

I can’t remember if it’s aftermarket or oem. I bought it awhile ago. I’ll try it though and see if it works. Thx!

Tried taking out the filter but stilled slipped and didn’t screw all the way. Im attaching pics in order of my trying to screw it on. The last pic is as far down as it will go and it ends up being crooked. Thx for any help!

The rubber gasket looks fine. I’m not sure why it’s slipping.

I put a new one on and had problems. Checked the old one and it looked fine and clean so put it back in, and its huge, and put an inline on anyway. Still running that on my clone engine. If I take the hose off the carb gas just pours out so it has plenty of flow.
