Default I think my engine blew up.

So this happened yesterday evening. No doubt the engine is done, but can anyone tell me what happened and how/why?

Not with a hole through it. It was rebuildable two weeks ago when it was just knocking. Wouldn’t have been cheap, but could have been done.
As it is now pretty much everything in it is going to be trash, except maybe for the head.

Crap. Ok. We hadn't heard any noise coming from it the past few weeks, so it really surprised us yesterday when it blew.

Thank you all for your advice.

Pretty hard to imagine there was no noise, but hey, I wasn't there

Yeah I think that engine is toast. Usually to get a rebuild they want your "rebuildable core". I think you're out of luck on that one. Likely will have to pay extra. Might take a while.... I've been waiting 2 months on mine. Covid backups....

There’s no “I think” involved here. You definitely blew it up. The head and side cover are probably the only salvageable parts.
