Rear Axle Shaft q
Got the Rear Axle Input shaft pulled. I am no expert, but does this not look like condensation on the shaft? (see pics)
The shaft did not come with a freaking new set of o-rings or a new c-clip... albeit it is pretty smooth. Anyone know a good part number or link for a kit of the o-rings as well as the c-clip? Also, if this is condensation.... I am assuming the differential needs to be drained and possibly re-sealed. Any good links to a complete kit for rebuilding or at least new seals for a differential? I am not keen on replacing the entire dang axle heh... would rather break it down and rebuild :P Thanks guys R |

Re: Rear Axle Shaft q
Darn sure looks like water to me. I've not rebuilt my rear diff on the EZGO yet. Quite the wear on that input (or is it intermediate) shaft! The splines are almost completely gone. I'm assuming that's the reason you pulled it in the first place.
Good luck |

Re: Rear Axle Shaft q
I have a new input shaft to replace this. Problem is.. nowhere can I find a breakdown of parts so I do not know I need something new till I get to removing or putting stuff back together heh. So, ordered a new spline bumper because the old one is stuck.. now, need to order a new c-ring and o-rings... and want to try to get anything needed for the differential all in one purchase :P
Thanks for the help btw. I am having fun and do not mind doing all this.. just trying to get it all so I do not keep having to wait a week to put it back together.... then another week.. etc.. :P Need to see what all the differential needs to be resealed, cleaned, refilled etc. R |

Re: Rear Axle Shaft q
Thanks Johnnie. Going to order parts to rebuild the diff today.
Is there much difference with the 95 vs the 96? I am thinking... I want to start small and replace all the seals.. heh.. then flush it and add in more oil and see how it fares. R |

Re: Rear Axle Shaft q
I don't know if there is a difference between a 95 and a 96, ask the parts vendor.
FWIW, I use SAE 75W-90 full synthetic gear oil in my differential. It is a little thinner than SAE 30 motor oil and is formulated for gears rather then Crankshafts and Cams. |

Re: Rear Axle Shaft q
Good advise, thanks. Have not gotten around to ordering yet. There does not appear to be a seal on the lower end, probably just RTV or some sort of sealant.
Will order later today. Thanks for the help R |

Re: Rear Axle Shaft q
That was what I had and expected was used, since this is not a high temp application.
