Default 2014 ezgo txt fleet reupholster

I'm a DIY'er and looking to reupholster my seats. I was thinking of using a marine vinyl. Anyone else ever done this?! Does a heat gun help tighten the fabric?

Not sure what just vinyl will cost but you can buy seat covers ready to install over old one for about $100

Upholstery is kinda like electronics, OEM cost more but last 10 times longer.
If you are going to spend the time and money then go with the one piece formed covers.
I've recovered many cart seats and found even though the stitched multicolored covers look good at first, they tend to absorb and hold water at the seams and the stitching rots quickly.
Unless you store the cart inside and out of the rain.
Not to mention that the seams tend to soak your pants long after the seat seems dry.
Just my experience and opinion.....

I built several seats to replace old rotten ones on a set of five EZGO workhorses...bought marine vinyl by the yard, I think 8 yards for something like $7/yard. Still have some of the roll left over. I didn't use a heat gun, just pulled the material with plyers, and stapled it. I think they came out great for what they are. Not sure what the durability will be...time will tell. You need a good heavy duty staple gun, either pneumatic or electric. I have an electric one and sometimes staples don't seat all the way. It can get frustrating. I would have done pneumatic, but heard of issues pushing through the vinyl. No personal experience on that, but you can adjust air pressure. Just some thoughts. There is a video on here that walks you through the process to eliminate the folds around the perimeter.

So true....the one I did was one piece form fitted and so far seems like pretty good quality however I do agree OEM will be the most durable.
