i did this with 1 of my carts but i have 96 whole rearend swinger motor and ever thing ot of a 96 it was easy to do but it coast alot of money just in stupid lil parts to get it all to work. it would of been cheeper to rebuild the flat head or buy another cart then do the swap.

Bugger all wrong with my FE290 and It'll suck the nuts off an unripe walnut tree. A fine engine if in good tune.

I have 7 cart's.2 flatheads 2 fe290 counterclockwise 2 fe290 clockwise and 1fe 320. All good carts but to put a fe290 in a flathead cart not worth the money.
