Default 1987 ez go won't run

I bought an 1987 ezgo marathon about a month ago for 300 dollars she said there was somthing wrong with the forward and nuetral switch. I checked that out and it seemed fine. I cleaned up all the cables and charged the battries and am getting 36.7 volts and when i put the cart in forward it sounds like it wants to go and I hear something in the rear drivers side wheel spinning. Does this mean that the spline is broken kind of like a wheel bearing on a car. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

The brake hub is striped out, need a new one this is a problem that happens on a EZGO

Jack it up put it on jack stands, Take the tire off the cart remove the nut on the axle remove the brake drum, clean the spline on the axle, get a new brake drum and replace it, put the nut back on torque the nut to 90/100 LBs, do not back off the nut to put the pin in tighen more if needed--

and if you charged the batteries and they were 36.7v need new batteries

When you hear this noise find which side the noise is comming from, if you look at the axle nut when you hear the noise, the axle nut will be spining, MAKE SURE THE CART CAN NOT MOVE ON YOU---
