Two-blocking the rear springs
My '02 CC is a four seater. With four persons aboard I believe that it two-blocks the rear springs. Then the driven clutch(?) sounds like it is scraping on something. It is a different sound (like rotating metal in a now smaller diameter hole) than when two persons are seated and running.
Am I galling something? The cart is not dragging the ground. If one of the rear passengers gets off, and the other moves slowly passenger side to driver's side and back again, the "binding" comes and goes. So it is more prevalent when there is a lot of weight on the Driver's side. |

Re: Two-blocking the rear springs
Not really sure what "two blocking" is but have you checked the engine cradle or spring by the driven to see if there are any rubbing marks?
Try to get four people standing on it with the seat up and look for contact areas while running slowly in neutral. |

Re: Two-blocking the rear springs
When a crane or pulley system is raised such that the "headache ball" and the top sheave of the crane come together...that is "two blocking". It is a BAD situation in cranes. In the golf cart, I was using that analogy to describe the cart body compressing the spring all the way to the frame. I will check for the rubber bushings, place the cart on blocks in Service Mode, and see what is happening. Is blocking required in Service Mode? |

Re: Two-blocking the rear springs
You shouldn't need blocking in service mode. remove the seat bottom from the cart for better access... sounds like the driven clutch is rubbing?

Re: Two-blocking the rear springs
sounds like you just need to install heavy duty springs in place of the stock ones.

Re: Two-blocking the rear springs
Do stock springs "expire"? The cart is designed for four persons.
Eventually, I will add a lift kit, heavy duty springs, and larger wheels and tires for additional ground clearance. |

Re: Two-blocking the rear springs
look under the cart and count how many leafs are in each spring
most likely - there's 2 leafs, which is stock for a regular cart. CartPartsPlus sells an additional leaf, or a set of HD springs. |

Re: Two-blocking the rear springs
No rubber bushings and only one spring leaf (Part # 1012324 - Made in Australia). I have no part diagram/number confirmation for the rubber bushing or where it should be on the cart. Can not see any part(s) that appears to have been rubbed. Have not performed the fully loaded Service Mode test.
The cart has 18x8.50-8NHS tires. How large can I go in tires on the stock wheels before a lift kit is required? Also, my basketball playing boy broke the light fixture on the front, both the external housing and the internal lamp keeper. I should replace both sides. What part numbers are those? |

Re: Two-blocking the rear springs
This is why you should never play basketball in a golf cart!
I think a 20" tire might fit without a lift on a two seater but with rear seat and four people I would think you are going to bottom in the fenderwell. As far as the lights why not call your local dealer and ask if the one can be changed, they might need to see a picture to see if they are the same style as what they have. They could even give you a part number. |
