2002 Bad Whine that gets louder with Speed
I just bought a 2002 EZGO from a dealer. I traded in my older cart that needed a lot..
Anyhow the cart is very nice except I have a whine that gets very loud as the cart accelerates.. the whine at full speed is really loud!! It will give you a headache.! I called the dealer and he said that with the speed chip and faster motor it would do this.. But I see them around here all the time faster than this one without the loud noise. When I let off the pedal the sound starts to quiet down. It isn't near as loud at slow speeds.. but you can still hear it.. My wife was following me in the car and she said she could here very well... it was annoying her it was so loud? Thanks for any help.. |

That is not normal - Sounds like a motor bearing issue to me. The dealer should know better than that. Is it a Factory dealership, or just a used cart guy?

Thanks for the quick responses.. ! He isn't a factory dealer.. just a golf cart guy...
He comes highly recommended so I hope he will do something for me!! My wife won't even ride it because it can be so loud. |

Was that the only PDS cart he had? Have him give you another - what you have is NOT normal...

He had some others.. this one was custom.. lift , tires , etc.. the others were standard.. So maybe he can at least change the motor..
Thanks for the information.. at least I will be more informed when I go in the morning. I can say I got advice from experts..;) |

You bought a lifted PDS with a speed chip??? I don't want to come down hard on you - But did you do any research before you decided on this cart? Plan on replacing the controller / solenoid and adding 4 gauge cables very soon. A stock PDS controller will melt down in a lifted cart...

It's ok to come down on me.. :) wont hurt my feelings.. lol
I did do a little research.. After first reading this board..I asked some questions..He said that all necessary stuff was upgraded for the speed upgrade.. but I am questioning that now since he said it was supposed to be louder.? I will post results tomorrow after I go over to the shop.. I may have to put on the Mr. Hyde side.. ! Thanks again! |

Well.. I picked it up today.. and about half way home when I speed up is when I really started to notice how loud the howling/whining was..!! We ate first right beside the place so by the time we were finished he was closed or I would have turned around.
Receipt but no warranty.. but I have some influence around here.. So I hope he is a stand up guy and takes care of the issues.. if not, well .. I will address that tomorrow AM.. |
