1987 Ezgo gas motor loosing power
I just rebuilt the top half of my 244cc motor. IT starts right up and runs great a low speed. But when you start to go faster it like bogs down for a little bit and then starts to go faster. Is there a crab adjustment I can make or does any one have any ideas for me to fix my problem?

Re: 1987 Ezgo gas motor loosing power
The BV carburetter has two jets one for low speed and one for high speed so it sounds like the main jet is partially blocked. You will need to remove the carburetter then remove the nut that holds the bowl on. That nut is actually the main jet so check the orifices and if neccessary ream them out with a little copper wire. Now if you look up into the carb body you will see a brass screw. This is the main nozzle, unscrew it and inspect and clean as well. Whilst you have it apart this would be a good time to hit it all with some carb cleaner. When you rebuild it make sure that you do not kink or pinch the gasket between bowl and the carb body.
Of course there may be other causes of your problem but this is a good place to start. Good Luck Dave Box |
