Default pulsar coil setting

hi guys,
87 ezgo 2 cycle gas. what is the function for the pulsar coil and does the base plate have to be a specific distance from the crankshaft?

thanks, woodyoda

the pulsar triggers your ignition to create spark (so it's relatively crucial to running) - the position is rather forgiving, just center it (the mounting ring) and you should be just fine

thanks for the quick reply, but i have another concern. at the bottom of the little black pick up box is a triangular plate that mounts the box to the frame. it has a small circular shape towards the crankshaft. is this plate a part of the circuit or is it just a mounting plate with a circular shape.

thanks agai

hi guys,
does anyone know if a points type crankshaft will work with a pulsar type engine. only difference is the old shaft is perfectly round at the pick and new shaft has a lobe for points?
