Default Converting electric to gas using existing axle

I just bought a club car very cheep, its just a roller, It was electric but the batteries, the wires and controller are gone, The DC motor is still there and connected to the axle. I want to rebuild it using a gas engine, can I modify the rear axle to make it work, is it worth it? Or should I start with something else?
