Default Help with brake lights on gas G16

Hi:

I purchased a premium/ultimate light kit for a 2000 gas Yamaha G16. I installed today and everything (headlights, taillights, blinkers) worked except for the brake lights. I spent the entire day troubleshooting (very frustrating).

From the brake switch, both (red) wires go to a time-out relay. From the relay, a (black) ground wires goes to the battery negative post. A picture of the relay and wires is attached.

I think that for the brake lights to work that power must go to both the orange and brown wires in the turn signal harness at the same time How does that normally happen?

Also, the brake switch came mounted on a small "Yamaha" panel (see red circled item on attachment). How is this installed?

Thanks

Pat

Hi,

I ended up purchasing a switch with a longer throw and used some Goop to attach to the bottom of the access plate. It works great. I would post a picture, but the cart is out to Sturgis right now.
